I liked this short film for a number of reasons. The music was perfect the dancing was great and was of the period.
The marriage between a closeted gay man and a woman would have been dealt with in secrecy. I liked the “arrangement” Norma Carlisle made with her husband and her lover. Maybe it was a bit too sweet but in these times I like a happy ending.
The outline of Norma’s life as an child given up for adoption by a teenage girl of means and then kept in an orphanage until she was old enough to be put on a train is both tragic historically correct. The meeting with her birth mother was painful and convincing.
I don’t know anything about Louise Brooks but the story of her life is compelling.
