One of my favorite films. Peckinpah, directing, William Holden, Warren Oates, Ernest Borgnine, and Ben Johnson and an ending that will have you on the edge of your seat. It doesn't get anymore "western" than this movie. An elegy for the end of the wild west. Plus, amoral thieves acting on their own moral code. Honor among thieves at it's best. Unforgiven is a later example.

I love movies by John Sayles. This is one of the best. The state of W. VA. is a beautiful background to contrast with the ugliness of the worst of mankind.
