I cannot believe that this was an Imtiaz Ali film. Just because 2D and 3D animation is being incorporated elsewhere does not mean you overdo it to the point that the viewer starts to feel (in my case I start to feel) as if it's a DC or Marvel comic. Dragged. Some really exceptional sequences but that does not justify the narrative. Storytelling speaks for itself in this man's film. He does not need technical aspect to uplift his work. No offense to animators but showing a spaceship light up the akhadas was just plain stupid, childish and really not necessary. I'm so hurt that this is a filmmaker who has been a source of education through his films all these years -- but with this one he just let it slip into the hands of kal ke bachay jinhe chipkana agyaa hai, narrative aur authentic visual appeal jaaye bhaar main. At least that's what it depicts. Afsos. Upar se internet bhee itna slow chal Raha tha ke 2.40 ki film 5 ghantay main khatm hui. Double afsos. Not at all recommended. Watch the songs. More lively, more fun. Cute as well.
