I read the books in my teens. I'm in my fifties now. Like a previous reviewer said, "The man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed", was (and still is) the greatest opening hook to a novel I have ever seen.

Yeah, no lengthy dissection of the movie from me. All I'll say is if you haven't seen this movie yet then consider yourself lucky. Bad... Very bad.
