Severance is an amazing show with a lot of potential in the upcoming seasons. It's stunning, the story is fresh and fleshed out and presented equally beautifully. Severance is a show you will regret missing.
This is only the first season of the show and as a result, it feels incomplete. A lot of stories are yet left to be told and I am sure which will bump the rating to a 5/5.
Severance feels like a fresh take on a crowded industry. Yes, I am aware stories like this have been presented before but not as precisely as severance and might I say magically. Severance garners into the very perpetual philosophy of work-life balance and amplifies it to a fictional stage. A lot of the scenes do tend to remind you of your office, yet, crept with creepiness. The pilot is a little slow but it picks itself towards the end and swoops you right into its world. Severance is no doubt in my mind, addicting and always keeping you on your toes.
The production of the show has been a real treat to my eyes. The sets are crafted with such aesthetically pleasing and stunning cinematography work. Severance prefers to use a lot of symmetric shots and Swift camera movements which are hard to not notice. The cast was phenomenal, and, no one person seems out of the place. Everybody was on the top of their game. However, if I had to choose one standout performance it's easily Tramell Tillman's Mr Milchick. He was absolutely phenomenal and nailed the role right away. You cannot help but be captivated by his aura.
The problem I had with a lot of shows is sub-plots that don't connect to the main story or there's a lack of them. However, that is not the case with Ben Stiller's severance. The subplots are as stunning as the main plot and greatly entertaining. Apart from being a drama, Severance is a dark comedy and a rare one that doesn't force its humour into you. The show's humour is placed just right. However, this is a slow burn. If you belong to a fast-paced audience this isn't for you.
