A woefully inadequate offering and frankly an insult to the franchise. Due to a weak cast, a weaker yet script and action scenes devoid of innovation The Matrix Resurrections feels like a low budget 'TV movie'. The plot is unnecessarily full of overly complicated detail which neither engages nor impresses. Somehow despite huge advances in filmmaking since the original movie was created, this film looks and feels totally fake, often looking more like a video game than a cinematic experience (unreal engine?). Had I not learned to not be swept up with hype or to have high expectations I would have been very disappointed. I score it a generous 2 stars.
