This book is a remarkable journey of a remarkable couple.
I can use that term with great confidence, having been the person that introduced Cynthia Underwood (my sister) to Bill Thayer many, years ago.
From the development of their organic farm in Maine to the fire which destroyed their barn and farm animals, to the community rebuild of the barn, and all that happened in between.
In addition to a wonderful story of life, the book is also a remarkable story about death.
We all thought that Bill would outlive us all, as he remained fit and hard working into his 80’s.
It is hard to believe that his Haflinger horses which were his best friends in life, and possibly the cause of his death which to day remains a mystery.
I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who has experienced a loss of a close family member.
It supports the notion that death can be sad, however can also be a wonderful teacher
