I usually LOVE the People's Court. Judge Milian is sharp, without being mean. She shows compassion &clarity. The show is usually comfortable to watch (unlike Judge Judy, who of late, turns RABID at the drop of a yarmulke). This is great, old fashioned meat & potatoes TV. Milian's crew is usually amazing as well.
My problem came up while watching a late night rerun:
Season 21, Episode 144. It is the usual, interesting mix of drama & human foibles. There's a sketchy sexual harassment case, an unleashed dog throttle, &shoddy auto repairs, complicated by CO. Everything is progressing well, until the street group interviews.
Up in the very front, there is a woman with literally half her chest exposed! UGH!!! She is PAINFULLY & prominently featured. She is (as my Depression Era dad used to say) "losing a lung." The doorknob interviewer, Harvey, falling all over himself, is worshipfully & OBVIOUSLY appreciative! My guess is that she is dating the camera guy, because there isn't a move, shot, or angle there that doesn't try to exploit it. At least at the end of the episode, Harvey has the decency to look uncomfortably flustered, if not blinded.
COME ON, PEOPLE!!! Is the show doing that bad?! I know there is some amount of control the show has in piecing the crowd together, otherwise there would be vagrants & flashers! Get a grip, People's Court! I like you guys, & count on your wholesome brand of justice. I don't want to see you go away.
