I don't think any director have no right to break the art form and present it in a new way. Here Srijit Mukherjee, Abhishek Chaubey and Vasan Bala has set a new version than we are used to with actual Satyajit Ray Stories. Few orthodox people are offended because perhaps they expected the original classic theme.
