a wonderful and disturbing movie, something
a American audiences may have trouble with,a less sanitized WW 2 film than MGM & other major studios were producing(Warner Bros maybe excepted.)An it couldn't happen Here premise, made when the wars outcome was still seriously in doubt made English movie goers nervous,I bet.Seriously good acting made British stereotypes seem more real, Elizabeth Allan,Mervyn Johns, Leslie Banks among a fine cast, some outright violent content for 1942,some unexpected bravery from civilians, and a plot explained to you in the first 5 minutes, and it still sucks you in, not bad, huh?
