I enjoyed Netflix's interpretation of the book, which inspired me to read it. The first two-thirds of the book were entertaining. It started out with some pleasing literary moments yet offered many repetitive visuals. Lots of tilting of the head, enveloping, devouring, arching of the brow and curling the lips. The last portion of the book was painful. I found myself cringing from predictability and overused vocab. I questioned how it became a best seller. But mostly, the last part underlined the existance of a manipulative, toxic and abusive relationship with Nika being the victim. The ending was a mess. I'd recommend to listen (notice, not read) to the first part of the book before the comma, then to move on.
