Good depiction of some WW2 battles of American forces in Japan. Some drama in the first act typical to the genre, boys meets girl, falls in love, goes to war. In the later acts the protagonist's beliefs are served a bit heavy handed but not overshadowing the central story. That story is of Desmond, the protagonist, experience of war as a medic.
The movie felt, besides the Christian twist, as a typical war movie with nothing really standing out. Don't expect memorable characters whom you will grow fond of, a la "Saving private Ryan" or the level of detail to historic accuracy there's almost no development of anyone else besides Desmond and his love of God.
