love itself is an obsession.
There’s something incredibly beautiful about this story.
Every person we met is ourselves. Martha is just a reflection of Donny. Her obsession, her weirdness, madness, anger, chaos, struggling in her career, looking for acceptance, every single part of her, fascinates donny as well as makes him embarrassed. She is just him, with more expressive emotions. I don’t think Donny hates her. On the contrast, she is becoming part of him as well as him becoming parts of her. They mean a lot for each other. They grow, they fight, until they can settle with the part they hated themselves. Maybe, it is a love, that too shame to accept. But maybe it is a love, that is not related to romantic relationship. But they see themselves in each other, they fight themselves in each other.
You might think you want a smooth life where everything unfolds exactly as you desire, but consider how monotonous that could become. Deep down, you might actually yearn for the company of someone peculiar—someone weird, dangerous, maybe even a bit evil and hurtful, but exciting and unpredictable. These are the people who make you feel truly alive, evoking a mix of pain, obsession, confusion, excitement, and destruction.
Life can indeed go horribly wrong; you might find yourself in dire straits, fumbling every step of the way, overwhelmed and bewildered. Yet, if you endure these trials with earnestness, you will discover what truly emerges from within. Amidst the chaos, the real discovery is you—your entire essence, not just fragments of your virtue like courage or kindness. This inner light, the true glow of your being, allows you to see yourself clearly, revealing your strengths and vulnerabilities alike. This illumination is not just a guide but a revelation of your deepest self.
