I was really enjoying the book and mentioned and showed it to my mom. Turns out she and Dad had known the man when they lived in Pender Harbour back in the early 1950s. I thought that was so neat. A part of me regrets that they (for whatever reasons) decided to move to Vancouver when they started a family.

This is a GREAT read. Keep tissues handy. I borrowed the library copy and couldn't read it fast enough. Then went and bought my own copy. Worth every penny. So heart-warming. You will cry, but you will also laugh. The New Yorkers SCREAMING to see cars stopping to let pedestrians cross the road. The little stories like how some people were taken to see a memorial to American soldiers who died just days before Christmas decades before. Their transport plane had crashed near Gander. The book is so much more than just about Gander and 9/11.

I liked it enough to spend $17 to mail it to another horse lover. Sadly the book is 'lost in the mail'. Guess someone else is enjoying it. GREAT read.
