Note - Light spoilers mainly about woke agenda that has poor choices for inclusion. I may fast forward Episode 3 and update my review we will see.
I made it to Episode 3 and had to turn it off here's why (I never played the game FYI);
- To start really not enough on how the fungus was able to live inside a human host other then the 1960s interview. Maybe this is a good thing because it would have been about some climate change mumbo jumbo. Maybe they were trying not to get too political so they left it vague, or there is more explanation to come, still it leaves the story line hanging on why it even started. They touch on this further down the line but still not much that is convincing.
- Poor character and "inclusion" choices for several of the cast. Ellie should have belonged on the cast of Trailer Park Boys. This goes with many of the cast.
- If we are on the topic of "inclusion" I really see no Asians, at least of any significant role (my family is mostly Asian).
- Then comes to more of the cast. The White/Caucasian cast is mostly comprised of drug dealers, and human smugglers with the exception of the below commenting.
- *Keeping in vague to limit spoilers for those who want to watch this part*. We somehow drift off course to the life of a single gay man which appears to have had a gay lover that died or something. Only to have another mysterious gay man stumble upon him which is statistically impossible, a majority of the human race is now wiped out. For the sake of argument lets say a gay man, travelling alone to another quarantine zone by the way they were pointing and direction appears he was going the complete wrong way, somehow was able to find his way to another gay man. Again, statistically impossible but lets add on this and get back on point. It literally adds nothing to the story, its like a captain of a ship with a big hole in his vessel stopping in the middle of the ocean so he can catch some fish, makes no sense.
-I am not a fan of romance in movies or shows especially apocalyptic movies or shows, more interested in survival and learning about the virus. How does two gay lovers add anything of value in this story line, statistics aside? Its not homophobic to not want to see two gay men making out, and at least IF it made sense perhaps they can justify it. The other gay man said, "go take a shower" so I can guess what happens next. This literally has not a single relevant plot point at all. Maybe I could see them justifying it if the zombies were on their way to these two gay men and they only had limited time.
-Mostly agenda driven and it appears they are more focused on catering to the LGBTQIA+ community then actually keeping the story on topic without veering off the specific agendas.
Maybe I can skip to Episode 4, would be nice to get back on topic away from the impossible meeting of two gay men that magically stumble into each other and are ready to get it on after only hours of knowing eachother.
It went from a fairly ok zombie show to absolutely unwatchable.
