I haven't watched the original, and so I didn't get the chance to draw comparisons. Overall, I really liked the film.
My only complaint is that there are too many setbacks throughout the film. This was probably kept to make it realistic, but it batters the viewer down too much. Thus the success in the end doesn't feel like enough.
Other than that, full marks on every other aspect - the storyline, the performances, the screenplay. The film starts on a riveting note and grabs your full attention.
Brilliant performances from the entire cast - Akshay Kumar at his emotional best, raw, sincere and earnest; Radhika Madan was stunning as the fiery, independent minded, fiercely loyal bakery owner; Seema Biswas, Paresh Rawal and the friends were at their best.
The story keeps you invested throughout. It breaks you down as well as inspires. Definitely worth a watch.
