This show was great for educating people on the 60's scoop. I grew up in northern saskatchewan in the 90's/2000's and I had heard about this event but didn't know much of the details. This show was great at showcasing how this event affected families.
It really draws you in and helps you understand how heartbreaking and tough it was for everyone affected by it. Just imagine the government coming into your home and taking your children and breaking up your family, with laws in place that made it practically impossible to get that family back together....it's terrifying.
Utimately it's a show about love and finding ones home, most of the characters grab you in some way and make you feel their hurt and struggle.
This isn't a 'white people are evil and we should blame them for everything' show, it's a show about how the government came into peoples lives and made assumptions and decided on what was best for a group of people that were just trying to peacefully live their lives. No freedom, no remorse for the families, no care for others, just fear.
It also shows the beauty of mutiple types of family, the jewish mother and little bird family in this are great and really shows how great things can be if everyone just cared for each other.
