It was the most surface level book I’ve ever read !!! 2D characters and quite cliched however, I grew up reading classics (because where I live, they are mostly sold) so I always expect a book to be dense and layered and not just black and white ... it wasn’t for me at all ! Also YA fiction is just about romance and how a charming prince would save a princess in predicament and in doing so it invalidates importance of other kinds of love and their impact on a growing person. Moreover, classics are clean which is what this book is not ***very explicit descriptions and just glamorizes it for teenagers too*** tl;dr as a teenager, I CONDEMN it

Plain brilliant...I’m all for its praise ... it’s beautifully woven. Words. Oh! Words. Donna Tartt knows how to jiggle them given she wrote this in a period of 10 years . Brilliantly crafted plot and overall dark autumn themes ... it has been poetically written . It has some gems like , ““It is here that the stilted mannequins of my initial acquaintance begin to yawn and stretch and come to life” Excerpt From Donna Tartt The Secret History This material may be protected by copyright.” and if you are a sucker of words and immaculately crafted stories, this one’s for you ... you won’t regret
