Still missing Downton Abbey, and thoroughly enjoying the Gilded Age, I couldn’t wait to watch another period piece. I blocked out three hours to watch the first three episodes. I didn’t make it till the end of the second one. It has all the charm of a frat house weekend in 2023. Modern music definitely does not work here. Having a string quartet play modern songs in the background of Bridgerton was fun. Simple blaring current music that doesn’t match the period is not. The behavior of the young women who are the starring characters in the show is vulgar and annoying. Of course, they couldn’t pass up a scene of a main character using the toilet in the first episode. I don’t plan to finish the series and would rate it negative stars if I could.
