It's a gloriously funny film that literally sticks two fingers up at hypocritical society. The cast are clearly having a brilliant time and the film goes into some dark places.

I liked Wonka but it lacks a bit of chocolate crunch. It looks great and there are some terrific performances all round but I wasn't really sure what the film was saying. It's a kind of prequel and homage to the Wilder film and contains a very good plot about greed and capitalism and Wonka is redefined as a magical optimist. Yet something is missing and I think it's the cynicism of Dahl's original and the scary side of Wonka. Its good and my daughter loved it.

Magnificent film. Superb acting and script. Just perfect.

Quite simply one of the best films of the last ten years. Want to know exactly how the Western world would react to The World ending then it's all here. Critics of the film call it trite, missing the central premise of the film. Superb performances all round but Mark Rylance is simply astounding. Watch!
