Haunting the Deep (HTD) by Adriana Mather is the second book in a series, the first being How to Hang a Witch (HTHAW). I couldn't put HTHAW down, and from how it left off, I was definitely worried that HTD wouldn't be able to even come close to HTHAW. I was pleasantly surprised when HTD not only matched HTHAW but exceeded it, surpassing almost all of the books I've read (and I've read a lot!). HTD is a wonderful fantasy/fantasy book (my favorite) and weaves together elements of historical fiction, romance, and supernatural/paranormal events. Adriana Mather takes real people from the past and weaves them into a new storyline, representing their stories with surprising accuracy. The romance is not much and doesn't distract or pull too much attention from the storyline and important events in the book. I greatly appreciate this as I have read far too many books that could've been good were it not for the ridiculously unbelievable romance over-dramatizing key moments. As the book is set in Salem, it, of course, had supernatural events and references, and quite a few characters are ghosts from decades past which only the main character, our delightfully stubborn, spunky, and brave Samantha; is able to see. In conclusion, HTD is definitely a must-read for all fans of fantasy/fiction/historical fiction/romance/supernatural/paranormal fans and does a great job of continuing what HTHAW started, and I definitely recommend it. After you've read the first book, of course! (●⌒∇⌒●)
