Lack of a plot, poor editing, and stilted dialogue marred a movie that otherwise held the promise of visual beauty. The editing was especially poor, with excessive lingering on meaningless scenes that added up to… nothing. In comparison with director/writer Wes Anderson’s majestic (and plot-driven and well-edited) Grand Budapest Hotel, this movie was a small-town dud.
