Good show with a few problems.
I love the dancing and the bit of insight into the ballet industry. I have absolutely always crushed and will never stop crushing on Luke Kirby.
There are some giggles.
But it isn't hitting my funny buttons. The characters are overdone and cliche. Even Luke's acting isn't quite up to his usual standards. I find myself losing interest in everyone's story.
Also, I hate reading subtitles. They take me away from the faces.
It seems to be a trend these days, and I'm certainly all for authenticity, but while I love the IDEA of bilingual TV shows, in practise they are most suitable only for really fast readers, people willing to pause to read or toggle the audio descriptive mode, and for bilingual people. We are often asked to use our imaginations when watching stories. Older actors play younger characters, vice versa, English speaking movies have told stories in foreign countries since the beginning of cinema. We've always somehow figured it out! English or French please. Right now it's neither. I hope this bilingual experiment peters itself out.
All in all the show is a bit of a downer. It should be funnier, and more nuanced, to make up for these tragic, understandably self-absorbed humans. It's still worth watching but don't expect the earth to move.
I like the episode endings. Jump on Prime to let them finish, they're fun.
