As a mega fan of the movies, I was incredibly excited when my friend let me borrow his copy of the novel. When going in, I expected peak, what I got was a gripping, intelligent, unpredictable and intense story.
Unfortunately, I knew a lot of spoilers for the novel going in, however, it still somehow surprised me more times than I can count. You can never quite predict where the story is going even after knowing the plot of the film inside and out.
Everything about the novel was expertly crafted, the language it uses, the perfect balancing of SO MANY plot points and mysteries that are all cleared up by the end and leaving you feeling incredibly satisfied.
My only issues is that a lot of the moments rarely affected me much, I feel like more emotional language and staying on the scene for longer would have drastically helped it. I also thought the ending was kinda out of the blue, they solve yet another mystery about the raptor's behaviour and suddenly they are rescued immediately after. In fact, the whole ending seemed a little bit rushed, I would have liked to see more about how the characters were affected by this extremely traumatic event and how they have changed. I might just be crazy though.
I also wish Lex got more character development.
TL:DR, extremely amazing book that flawlessly executes 97% of the concepts and story beats it tries to portray. It is 110% worth your time. READ IT NOW
