Constant Inconstant

Let’s face it, this movie was horrible. Look past the nostalgia and you won’t find a coherent plot. The movie starts off excellent with the scorpion back story in feudal Japan. I thought to myself “hey maybe this will be a good movie!” But pretty much as soon as the rollercoaster of attempting to explain the characters and the why starts it gets murkier and murkier. Honestly the 90’s mortal kombat movie was way better in terms of story and actually making sense of an interdimensional tournament with otherworldly, multi-limbed members. Here in the current age things like making sense are thrown out the window for gore. Which given the respective title I’m cool with gore. I expect it but it honestly feels like we lost a good story for game accurate finishers. I see by other reviews that I’m largely alone in my judgement of this movie but I truly hated it. I wanted so much to love it but it was a severe let down. I wouldn’t even recommend this if there were nothing else on. I’d suggest turning off the TV and staring at the wall before watching this. I’m a fan and spent hundreds of hours playing the games since the first one sent parents professing video games. The fact that this was so bad is a HUGE disservice to fans I can sum it up for you without spoiling it: Hey there’s this Dude and he’s dead! Oh wow Ice ninja kicked his butt! Whoa he disappeared! Wait now there’s another dude... and then there’s more! Oh cool there’s a bad guy! Check it there’s crazy looking bad guys with him.... wait where’s the actual tournament?! Oh that’s cute he grew a suit made from honey buns! Oh neat scorpion shows up out of nowhere. Everyone’s chill and happy Oh.... the movie’s over. Mmmkay then.
