Something that clammers in the mind long after snapping off the book to a close, are the voices - the voices of these two women, Mariam and Laila. Both the sufferer of their own grim situations. Hosseini does a masterful job at weaving the dual narrative of these two characters throughtout the length of the book. Each and every character that are involved in the story are well-crafted and have capacities of arousing a vast spectrum of emotions from the reader. And at the very heart of it, the book isn't for the one who are faint by their heart. As this book will wretch them to their brink.
