I used to love reading official critic reviews. Especially where the critics were clearly fully steeped and in love with their work. Maybe bc I’m much older now I’m just annoyed by it all. With this album I think the average reviews are missing the whole point of Sia. She’s a huge massive force who came to fame in the most unique and hard way ever — by just doing her craftwork and never giving up and keeping her voice the power it is and staying true to herself. She doesn’t need to move an inch for the zeitgeist. I marvel in her voice and her raw lyrics. She was excoriated unnecessarily for Music. She comes out flying. It’s not trite to repeat a flying mantra if it works. And for Sia it does. I admire her more and more. Fly high!
