The endearing moments of the life of Blackpink are encapsulated in this wonderfully knitted story, with 79 minutes of the band members' raw and heartfelt emotions capturing the audience's attention through the carefully crafted use of an intermittent and semi-chronological interview/vlog template. A story with life lessons subtly but effectively delivered, Light Up The Sky resonates with K-Pop enthusiasts just as much as it does with anyone else owing to its realism as it highlights the many facets of life as a celebrated figure which is shown in the movie to be not too dissimilar to that of a regular Joe - watching it allows the audience to reevaluate their life circumstances and leave an overall realisation that we are all but human; some get to live their dreams while some can only dream.
Though lacking a variation in dynamics throughout the movie, considering it to be a documentary, Light Up The Sky lives up to its purpose in bringing people around the world together to witness the growth of a band that has gained its reputation through nothing but hard work, constant toil and its very unique team dynamics; it also shows us how something immensely huge can be achieved from the unlikeliest of decisions.
Simple, sweet and effective. An easy 9.5/10 from me
