What Scott Castle said...
Additionally, I used to follow Carlin around like some people follow the Grateful Dead. I used to watch him rehearse at The Comedy Store in LA with his hundreds of handwritten notes, it was astonishing. I actually (bragging now) made him laugh once and he hysterically scolded me for it as in, "don't make me laugh I'm gonna lose my place!" to put it subtly.
Turns out the bit I inadvertently 'helped' him with made into one of his HBO performances, When you see the 'guys named Todd" bit...that was me.
I met him a couple of times. He got to know me because I always wore the same thing to his shows, a Philadelphia Flyers hockey jersey. And as Scott Castle said, and as this documentary shows, he was indeed a genuinely nice man. Always wore the same cheap Casio watch, lol! God how I miss him.
