Absolute Train wreck of a game. Do not play this at all, and if you are a cult fan of Lufia, DO. NOT. PLAY. THIS. It is not a Remaster, but a Full on remake of the Lufia series. I'm guessing when they designed this game they were trying to re-birth Lufia into an action game, as Turn-base games were declining slowly at that point of time. However, it did not stay true to its roots at all. If they stuck with the original timeline, and just simply turned it into an action game with bonus content to build and add on to the already existed story that was in Lufia II Rise of the Sinistrals and made that into action game, It would of been so much better. Music is decent though, Graphics are okay, but Gameplay, Fighting, Story is just horrible.

First of the Lufia Series, and lacking quite abit compared to the others later in the series, although it's not as robust, it still has it's charms, especially if you played Lufia II Rise of the Sinistrals, as that was the prequel to Lufia & the Fortress of Doom. General turn base combat system, level system is very grindy at the middle. Translations for Item descriptions were taken out of the US version of the game, as well as some attacks from end game boss. not sure if this was due to difficulty or just lack of effort. Story is pretty basic, and music is okay. Still it's pretty fun to play and see the aftermath of Lufia II, and Maxim's blood-line. Beating the game does grant a Try-again method, New game+ in other words and offers different ending I believe. But overall for a game that was developed in 1993 and having something more of a narrative story bad guys taking over the world, it was okay. Lufia II will use this game to build upon and adds alot more to the variety and gameplay for the Lufia series.
