Adam Sandler makes all of us who hated him before respect him as an actor we'd like to see again. That's the only good thing about the movie. Hollywood will love it because it does things the movie industry admires but that the general audience will see as merely annoying. The constant barrage of shouting and the ever moving cameras does not make appreciate the story more but rather less. Most of the characters are one dimensional and Kevin Garnett should be embarrassed- he is made to look like a fool along with his entourage.
My other complaint is that it is entirely predictable. From the very beginning we know that Howard will fail and although others have stated they feel empathy for him I for one cannot see why. Small moments with family do not seem genuine and his breakdown is nothing more than self pity. No remorse.
In spite of it all it's worth seeing just for Adam Sandler's performance.
