The movie had all of the beautiful Barbie aesthetics and it was quite comical at times. However, the overall message was disrespectful to men. I thought that the Barbies would collab with the Kens to find a way for both genders to feel seen and respected but that didn’t happen. That was extremely disappointing and I found the message to uplift women while grossly disrespecting men and their role in society. Our society needs both genders to survive and thrive. Both genders contribute greatly to our society. It’s annoying that in 2023, society can’t seem to find a way to acknowledge and respect men and women alike. It seems like society is always caught supporting only the opposing extremes. There was no effort to find a middle ground. I wouldn’t let me children see this movie, it was too disrespectful and “male-bashy”. We need men just as much as we need women. We just need to respect each other! ( fyi, this review is coming from a traditional African-American woman. I point this out to show that even for a minority woman, this movie was hurtful).
