Here’s the thing... I get that not everyone loves rogue style games of any kind, and Hades is very much a rogue/action/rpg. What I would say to anybody is this- If you love that style of game, then Hades is seriously a best in class of its genre. If you are not typically a fan of such games, then give this one a shot and see if it doesn’t singlehandedly change your mind. It really is that good... So here is my concise review- I picked Hades up for the Switch on a bit of a whim purchase, I love to support indie developers, saw it as a physical release and thought “Sure, I’ll give it a shot.” From there, I learned that this is one of the very best ‘rogue likes’ ever created. The story is incredible, the dialogue is seemingly endless, the weapons are all viable in one form or another, the controls are tight, the replay value is immense, the customization as far as mirror, keepsake, and boon builds is nearly immeasurable, and the graphics are fantastic for what this game is and for what the devs sought to create here. I have quickly dumped over 100 hours into this game and went from being an inept, stumbling fool that was lucky to get past the first fury sister to a nearly unstoppable power house with any weapon in that time through learning this games systems, upgrades, trial, and error. Beautiful job Supergiant Games, and I say this game is a must have for any Switch owner.
*Important edit- Also as a plus, the Pact of Punishment keeps this game proper challenging. Cheers Zagreus- Never a dull moment.
