Superb.
Fans of books (or comics) as source material are notoriously hard to please but, despite the obligatory divergences from the comic, the show retains everything that makes Essex County one of my all-time favourite reads.
Not only is the cinematography informed by the framing and composition of the comic, most importantly, the tone is note-perfect.
Unrelentingly sad, human, and true, it is uplifted by beautiful, incredible performances, especially from Molly Parker, Kevin Durand, and Stephen McHattie. Brian J. Smith and Finlay Wojtak-Hissong deserve mention too.
Loved it.
