It took a minute to move the original to the side and give myself permission to love what I was watching. Once I did that, my admiration for Bernstein-Sondheim-Robbins-Laurents grew a thousand times over once more. Cast: Brilliant. Not a wrong note anywhere. And Rita Moreno: Amazing, beautiful, agonizingly plaintive and touching. Oscar-worthy, still. The whole movie was just superb.
