One of the movies greats from the 80s. So well made, with the musical choreography and even the end theme music.
The actors featured a couple of my favorites such as Michael Biehn who went on and did The Terminator and Aliens and one of my all time favorite actors James Garner.
Michael Biehn is an obsessive fan who targets Lauren Bacall who is such a real, nice person you think how can anybody dream of hurting her. She was so good hearted and caring, grounded and down to earth that it's inconceivable but some fans love their celebrities to death, and have an undying love. Michael Biehn chillingly portrays a maniac who to get to Bacall will kill or slash or mutilate anyone who gets in his way, and that includes Bacall's staff or lovers. He will have her one way or another even if he has to kill her. Shot in New York where Mark Chapman murdered John Lennon. It's a wonder when you think about it that another John Lennon fan didn't kill Mark Chapman for him killing Lennon but that's another story.
Great scenery too. At the oceans and other cinematography that transports me back to better times when movies were great, sadly though this movie was released in a time of slashers and probably wasn't that popular, despite being released through a major studio such as Paramount Pictures and is hard to get in the sense of affordability. One place to buy it wants $46. I did manage to see a dvd where everything was much brighter, including the crimson blood and in widescreen as years ago I had a vhs copy that was much darker. It was also on TV frequently at midday in the mid 90s but now never, despite being of similar themes of midday movies where I live. It is one of the best movies I've ever seen and that's saying something because I've seen a lot. It's a shame it isn't easier to obtain at a more affordable cost. I'd prefer it on blu ray. I don't want to rent or buy or download a copy. I don't like that.
