The story was weak, the writing was basic and not very exciting. It was predictable for the most part. The attempts at humor were meh. I really applaud Pine & Rodriguez for trying to carry this, and their acting (as well as Grant's) skill was apparent, but the substance was lacking.
The special FX was good, and the use of the creatures from D&D was good, (fat dragon, sorta funny, but really?). To many missed opportunities for a better tale and challenging quest, without giving too much away...

Chris Pine's character also ends up being "Meh". His "rally the troops" speech falls flat as a mechanic used so many times but better in other stories and movies. The world of Dungeons & Dragons is so rich in material and storytelling, yet this feels like an attempt to get a label and a few iconic pieces to bolt on a mediocre story. I would have been happier if I waited for this to come to streaming...
