I’ve been a fan of FNAF since I was 13, but I found the film to be very underwhelming despite having a lot of potential.
Plot: is very basic and predictable, it’s as if they tried to appeal to the general public through making the lore obvious (which is not obvious in the games) rather than appealing to the niche group who enjoy FNAF
Acting: is also basic and doesn’t capture the extent of how you’d react in the actual situation, for example, animatronics chasing you would realistically result in horrifying screams and running away, this is not how it occurs in the film and is more of a brief “oh no, I should probably run” sort of vibe.
There are also very obvious holes in the logic of the film, which they could have put more effort into filling those holes, but didn’t.
Positives: the animatronics and the pizzeria are *very* well designed and are extremely true to the games, which from a fan perspective, was very enjoyable. I also just generally enjoyed the film from a fan perspective regardless, but it’s a shame because this film was so hyped up for years and has got so much potential to be better.
They tried to squeeze all the lore into one film, which I feel was incorrect. This film would have been better as a series where they had each season as each game in my opinion, so you could add more mystery and genuine horror to it + make the lore feel more genuine rather than squeezed in.
Overall, if you’re a fan you’ll probably want to watch the film anyway, and I'm not saying don’t, I did generally enjoy it, but if you’re super fussy about the quality and have high expectations, you will not enjoy it.
