My husband and I just watched this gem of a movie.
No matter what one's political persuasion ( proud conservative here), who among us can't recognize the absurdity of our present culture and our inability/unwillingness to listen to opposing views with respect?
I understand this movie is meant to represent the dangers of climate change. To me, it spoke to the way we have handled the pandemic. What does it matter? Movies are an art form and art speaks differently to different people. Maybe the fact that it makes us think, reflect, and observe the craziness around us is a tonic to so many of the empty, mindless other offerings on the screen right now.
Kudos to the eclectic group of actors that recreate the many politicians, celebrities, media elites, and military leaders that pollute our world, and to DeCaprio and Lawrence for representing those of us who just can't wrap our minds around the logic defying nonsense we are being sold on a daily basis.
How refreshing to see the acknowledgement of God and the touching prayer near the movie's end along with DeCaprio's all too true closing line.
"Don't Look Up" is a movie for all of us to watch. It's a black comedy, social commentary, and mirror to a world that most of us believe needs to return to sanity. Refreshing and much needed right now!
