Huge improvement on the first movie in my opinion! When I saw the first movie, I was really let down by the weak writing and lack of character depth, but the production design and pacing blew me away. Especially for a SAW knockoff, the first movie had no business being as good as it was. Now that I knew what to expect, I was genuinely blown away by this sequel. The stakes are higher, the rooms bigger and better, and the tension never stops ratcheting up. Holland Roden and Indiya Moore especially are always welcome in any movie I see. If you're going in hoping to be truly outsmarted by a movie, this is not for you. If you're a movie snob who always wants to be one step ahead so you can trash it online after you see it, stay home. If you're looking for realistic characters or smart writing, manage your expectations or just skip it! Anyone looking for some super fun popcorn schlock with real tension and gorgeous (and not gory) action sequences, join us fans! You're not going to be disappointed.
