A Poirot-inspired drama sans Poirot! Malkovich is a wonderful performer, but I believe he was miscast here. His muddled French accent (he sounded more German than French) made me cringe the entire time, and I couldn’t stand watching it. I’m open to modern adaptations, but this one was just too unappealing. And where is Poirot? He's grown a few inches and has a goatee. They should have at least kept to Christie's portrayal of Poirot. Imagine changing Sherlock Holmes into a short man who talks with a confused Americanised English accent... Oh, wait, we have that already.
