Tom Hanks does great work. Mark Rylance conveyed Spielberg's direction quite effectively, in my opinion. Just as Spielberg did in "The Schoolgirl The Nazis and The Purple Triangles" he juxtaposed the dichotomy of rival nations who behave in similar ways that are detrimental to their citizens. They also share a similar lack of respect for other nation's sovereignty as though it is their right to do so. What a world.
