Although the premise of the TV series does match the books , the series itself diverts almost immediately from the storyline of the books. I think the TV series will try to become more of a "games of thrones" intrigue style, rather than taking on the golden era of sci fi the books were written in. To me the introduction of a robot so soon is a mistake. Take this as a good sci fi, and not an adaptation of a book.
