After watching Paterson for the first time, I've been in this... meditative, hyper-observant state for two days straight. As a poet myself, I am thoroughly impressed. I haven't stopped writing free verse since I woke up this morning thanks to newfound inspiration, and I feel like everything is moving in slow motion. What I learned to do while watching Paterson was very important--it taught me to just... slow down. I haven't been this touched in a long time.
I have never seen a movie like this in my life. I've never actually stopped to pay attention to every little detail of a scene before in a movie--if you think you need action in a movie for it to be fun to watch, you are dead wrong. Paterson took my breath away both visually and emotionally--absolutely beautiful. I'm singing its praises here, guys. The written works featured in it are simplistic and mundane, but that's the point. It's about a man writing about the details he notices during a commonplace day.
Don't come looking for entertainment and action, come looking for philosophy and subtle, complex art.
Seriously cannot believe I just found this movie. I'm late to the party for sure...
