Terrible. Lazy script, predictable characters, mistimed delivery which sucked any remaining breath out of the weakly scripted humour. Imagine a pantomime without the principle boy and jokes.
Patel was remote and strangely uninvolved. Laurie, Whitehouse and Capaldi acting by numbers (Laurie's kite motif was weak to start with and then allowed to persist ... why did nobody say stop?). Only Hugh Grant was missing.
Saving graces? The theatrical colours were gorgeous, the energy of the female leads, the mixed cast was invigorating and Morfydd Clark did her best to add subtlety and timing to a disaster of an edit.
