Spoilers I absolutely loved the movie Brooklyn, then read the book and saw the novel didn't have the same love story happy ending. I was intrigued by the first part of Long Island set in the states, the confusing betrayal. Tony was always so devoted to Eilis in Brooklyn, that seemed still true in Long Island, although after this new revelation, nothing would be the same. The story moves to Ireland. I found the second half of the novel to be redundant. I will pick her, and not her. I will pick him, not the other one. No I really want the other girl, not the first girl. It is best for everyone if I pick the other man and not him. And round and round. Tedious. For the sake of brevity, I won't go into why abandoning everything you know for someone you had a short romance with 25 years ago...is a bad choice. The real story is back in Long Island. Do I have the patience to wait for another novel?
