I’m a fan of Fiedler, and still waiting for this thing to crack open and entertain. Educate. Provoke. Anything. Thus far? Meh. Nonetheless, it’s Nathan. I keep tuning in. Assisting in my commitment is Emma Stone’s impeccable approach to building a character upon absolutely nothing. Her acting skills are genius. Assisting also - Fiedler’s stumblish deadpan construct of a perfect nemish. Add a heavy dose of Minnesota boredom as Global Warming destroys our skiing and snowmobiling - that’s why I watch. It clearly is NOT for the script. Nor the ‘concept.’ Nor the ‘message’ - heavy handed and poorly executed. Nope. It clearly is NOT for ‘laughs.’ As each episode ends, I ask myself - ‘Is that it? Is it over? I mean… over-over? Will there be another episode?’ Honestly. If ‘plot’ were the criteria, the first episode could stand alone. Nonetheless. I’ll tune in again. Unless that was the last episode. Without a story, who can tell? Oh, dear…..
