I saw this film on opening day, and it was great! First off, the CGI was some of the best I've ever seen on screen. Krypto is bar far the most realistic animal I've ever seen animated, and every set is immersive and beautiful. Anyway, the plot was quite good too. I really enjoyed this take on the Superman story. Which... brings me to my only criticism. I feel as though casting could have been better. Rachel Brosnahan played an excellent Lois and definitely brought me back into this world when other characters pulled me out of it, however David Corenswet felt awkward and uncharming as Superman more often than not, though his emotional moments in the film make me believe he has a lot of potential so I'm excited to see him in future DC films! This emotional approach to Clarks character lacked some of the depth I hoped for but can absolutely be turned into something great with time. Nicholas Hoult was probably the weirdest casting choice IMO. He made a great script feel weak and flat and overall I do not believe he was a good choice for Luthor. If you can get past some weird casting choices and unfitting acting at a lot of times then this film is definitely for you. It is hilarious, beautifully shot and captivating the entire way.
