in my full opinion don't read all the reviews, just read this one. Outer Banks is Labeled as a "Coming Of Age" show, if you have teenage children you should recommend this show to them. Yes it has VERY BRIEF DRUG USE, the scene is 7-8 seconds of the characters "smoking" an empty rolled up paper. It also contains a few scenes of the characters "drinking" they aren't actually filled with alcohol. The reason labelling Outer Banks as a "Coming Of Age" series because it is to show kids to be grateful for what they have because not everyone has the same things that you do. It also show your kids that being criminals can get you into trouble and it puts into later on in the episodes what happens to kids when they commit crimes. The show is also labelled "Modern Day" because it portrays to the viewers what happens to kids all around the world right now. Especially since were in a pandemic these things are happening more and more frequently being locked in. I apologize for this spoiler but in a scene JJ went to give his dad the money for his restitution, and his dad said he was gonna use the money toward other things beside the restitution. JJ proceeds to try and take the money and run but his father fights him and later they end up on the ground both all bloody. JJ's backround is that he has been abused mentally, physically, and emotionally by his father. The story shows real life issues and things that are happening to minors in today's world. The scene for JJ is not the only scene that shows things that are happening in todays world you'll have to watch it for yourself or with your child. Outer Banks is a lovely show to kids, they see wrong and right they wont say "oh im gonna go do drugs and drink because they did". I recommend you watch it with them because if you dont want them to watch kissing or a scene that leads into sexual intercourse you should be there to skip it. Otherwise OBX is amazing and another season is coming!
