Here’s the plain and simple: it’s a horror movie. You put it on and watch it with the lights off and you get scared. It’s scary as anything, and it contains a lot of horror stuff. A lot of the reviews I have seen seem to completely miss this because they don’t like that it doesn’t have a corny, overexposed plot like 90% of the films in this genre. Zoom out a little folks. It’s intended to scare, and it delivers and then some. Take out your hate for abstract art somewhere else.

Compelling. Requires a certain suspension of disbelief at points, but all in all it was a very entertaining film.

Just watch it, trust me. Even if you know nothing about him. In fact especially if you know nothing about him! What a great job from Daniel Radcliffe—I swear I forgot he was Harry Potter for 95% of this, and I loved the Harry Potter movies

An amazing follow-up to The Witch and the Lighthouse. Robert Eggers manages to keep his signature style while telling a very different sort of story in a completely different setting than his other films (in the sense that it's not as claustrophobic as either a) a Puritan farm or b) a Lighthouse). It was a real pleasure to watch this film, and I feel it has a rewatchableness to it that, to me at least, exceeds his other two movies.
